Sophie Papadopoulos is a Greek-Canadian Actor, Acting Coach, Producer, and Director based in Athens, Greece. With roots in Toronto and an extensive background in theater, film, and talent development, she has built a multifaceted career at the intersection of creativity, education, and international collaboration.
Sophie is the founder of IWA -an actors’ studio and production platform that bridges cultures through workshops, masterclasses, festivals, and film and theater productions, connecting artists from Europe and North America. IWA holds an exclusive affiliation with the Beverly Hills Playhouse (BHP) in Los Angeles, one of Hollywood’s most respected acting institutions founded by Milton Katselas.
Since 2011, Sophie has taught BHP’s acting technique at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation (MCF), where she also serves as a Board Member and Creative Advisor, actively shaping new cultural and educational initiatives. She teaches Film Acting and Talent Management at the TEXNON EKATO Theater School founded by Lakis Lazopoulos, and continues to mentor emerging actors and directors through innovative training programs that blend artistry, discipline, and emotional intelligence.
As a Producer , Director and Consultant, Sophie has led and advised on numerous cross-cultural and independent projects, developing a distinctive focus on creative production and storytelling for international audiences. She is currently in development with a slate of productions aimed at global distribution, combining artistic vision with strategic partnerships in Europe and North America. With a focus on business development, script commercialization, and marketing communications, she frequently attends international festivals and industry events to foster collaborations and coproduction opportunities. Her directing and producing credits include Allen Barton’s Years to the Day (@ MCF 2018 for 2 seasons), which received critical acclaim, and the films Au Revoir (2015) and Emma Blue (2008). She represented Greece at the Toronto International Film Festival’s “City to City” Program (2013), and has served as a jury member at the London Greek Film Festival and the Cyprus Film Days for Children & Youth.
Sophie is an active member of WIFT Greece (Women in Film & Television), where she contributes to initiatives supporting women’s voices in cinema. She has organized and led industry seminars and masterclasses — including “How to Break Down a Film Scene” (2023) and a special event with award-winning casting director Nancy Bishop (2024). In recognition of her contribution to arts and culture, she also serves as a Board Member of the Irini Papas Foundation.
Alongside her artistic work, Sophie is a certified life coach (Association for Coaching), integrating acting methods into leadership and communication coaching for CEOs, executives, and public figures. With a background in Business Administration from York University and the American College of Greece, she combines creative insight with managerial expertise, having previously held positions in marketing and public relations with multinational companies in North America and Europe.
